LEXPOMO Writing Challenge 2021
June is Lexington Poetry Month! This wonderful event has been happening since 2013 and in encompasses all things poetry with multiple events around the city. The LEXPOMO Writing Challenge is a huge community of poets from around the region that take up the task of writing one poem per day and posting at least five on the blog at lexpomo.com.
I've been watching this event for several years, always with the hope that some day I would participate too. Given that thirty days isn't much in the grander scheme of a year, it shouldn't be too overwhelming.
But, 3o days of something else has the ability to seem insurmountable, like planking for 1 minute or abstaining from sugar.
I took the plunge this year. It seemed like a good time to do so. June 2021 will be a massive culmination of personal projects such as finishing my second novel, recording my first audiobook, picking up speed with Strange Bluegrass and stating a second podcast. I may even have a Youtube channel by the time everything is said and done.
I thought it would be a good idea to share the links to my daily submissions for LexPoMo on here.
I seem to be a bit darker than the other writers, which is par for the course.
I encourage you to read everyone's poetry, to hear everyone's voice. These folks are much more talented than I and I am positive that you will love them.
